Details

Actors Pocket Guide aims to enhance its platform by introducing a comprehensive company management and growth module. This project focuses on developing an interface that allows users to create and manage theater companies efficiently. The module will enable users to invite participants, manage shows, access and share company files, track participant activity, manage tasks, and view comprehensive reports. Additionally, it will consolidate all company events, shows, and tasks into a unified calendar, supporting the seamless organization and growth of theater companies. The goal is to provide a robust tool that simplifies the administrative and organizational aspects of running a theater company, thereby allowing users to focus more on their creative endeavors.

Key features to be developed include:

- User invitation and participant management

- Show management and scheduling

- File access and sharing capabilities

- Activity tracking and task management

- Comprehensive reporting tools

- Unified calendar for events, shows, and tasks

Deliverables

Learners are expected to complete the following tasks and deliverables to achieve the project goal of building a company management module:

  1. User Invitation and Participant Management System: Develop a fully functional system that allows users to create a company, invite members, and manage their roles (base level, manager, owner). This system should track which shows participants are involved in and their level of activity.
  2. Show Management and Scheduling Interface: Create an interface that allows companies to view and manage shows, schedule events, and assign tasks. The interface should enable easy navigation between active and inactive showspaces for seamless organization.
  3. File Access and Sharing Functionality: Build a system for users to add, access, and share files within the company, with the ability to integrate company files into specific showspaces.
  4. Activity Tracking and Task Management Tools: Implement tools to track participant activity across different showspaces and assign tasks within the company. This should include activity reports and task progress tracking.
  5. Comprehensive Reporting System: Design a reporting feature that includes participant activity tracking (e.g., active/inactive participants, most active participants), ticket sales, and other performance metrics using Stripe and other integrated services.
  6. Unified Calendar for Events, Shows, and Tasks: Provide a calendar system that consolidates all showspaces, tasks, and events, ensuring that users can manage their schedules efficiently across multiple projects.

These deliverables will result in a robust, user-friendly company management web application that supports the growth and success of theater companies.

Actor's Pocket Guide, launched in 2018 by theater director Nicole and technology expert Anatole, is a powerful platform designed to streamline theater production while offering tools for learning and company management. Originally created to address organizational and communication challenges in theater, it now supports actors, producers, and arts educators with features like show creation, cast and crew coordination, sheet music sharing, and task assignments.

With the addition of a learning management system, the platform now offers educational modules focused on performing arts, inclusivity, and antiracism. This allows users to enhance their skills while promoting equity in theater. Actor's Pocket Guide will also eventually include a company management system that simplifies scheduling, financial tracking, and other business operations, helping arts organizations run smoothly from rehearsal to performance.

Nicole & Anatole continue to build a bridge between Broadway and theater communities worldwide, empowering users to create inclusive, well-organized productions that shine.
